The Three Wise Women of the Acequia Madre House had a tradition of inviting their guests, many of whom were nationally recognized artists, to draw self portraits when they visited. In the Collections are self portraits by Fred Kabotie, Olive Rush, Gerald Cassidy, Gustave Baumann, Kenneth Chapman and many other.
In the spirit of this tradition, we welcome you into the studio to play with the magic of watercolor. In this 2 part course, (Day 1: in graphite, Day 2: in watercolor), I will guide you through the process of drawing and painting your self portrait. Topics and demonstrations include proportions of the face, technique, color theory and mixing, and style. You will become familiar and confident with graphite and watercolor and find joy in painting your self portrait!
